PM: Sweden and Finland’s NATO membership is a matter of security of Baltic region

On Tuesday in Vilnius, Prime Minister of Lithuania Ingrida Šimonytė met with Swedish counterpart Ulf Kristersson. Speaking to reporters about Sweden and Finland’s NATO membership, she stressed that it is a matter of regional security.

“This is not only about Sweden, Finland and their membership in NATO, this is also a matter of the Baltic region’s security,” said Šimonytė, adding that it is in the interest of Lithuania for the two Scandinavian countries to join the Alliance for the sake of common regional security.
