A person under the age of 40 is among the latest 28 victims of the coronavirus in Lithuania, the country's National Public Health Center said on Wednesday.

Its representative Justina Petraviciene told BNS the person had no underlying issues and belonged to the 30-39 age group. The person died in Lithuania's northern Siauliai County.

Another six people also died in this country, aged 60-89.

Petraviciene said that except for that one death in Siauliai County, all other victims of the coronavirus had underlying health issues.

Also, another 28 coronavirus-infected people have died of other causes over the past 24 hours.

A total of 64,621 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in Lithuania since the start of the pandemic. The country currently has 38,514 active cases and 25,278 recoveries.

The coronavirus death toll has reached 547, and 282 infected people have died of other causes.

A total of 1,277,043 tests for COVID-19 have been carried out in Lithuania so far, including 10,948 over the past 24 hours.
