Parliament speaker hopes teachers’ strike will not last for months

A teachers’ trade union is still determined to start a strike later this week amid disagreements with the government on higher salaries. Speaker of the Seimas Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen hopes that teachers will not resolve to extreme measures and expects a compromise to be reached, and more funding to be earmarked for wage growth.
