"These are individual cases so far, the start of September, the first week, and that showed that these children did not contract it at school. None of the 14 cases. They came from the families, from parties and other places they attended before the incubation period, and then they came to school with the coronavirus," Daiva Razmuviene, a chief specialist at the NPHC's division for the management of infectious diseases, told a press conference on Tuesday.

In her words, schools are reporting individual cases, therefore, the situation is under control. "Those hotspots we have at schools, they are under control and all contacts have been traced very swiftly and they are isolated," she said.

Razmuviene noted that schools are willingly cooperating in the process, therefore, there's no need to speak about nationwide remote learning as she reminded of widespread dissatisfaction with remove learning last spring.

The coronavirus has been confirmed at 15 educational establishments, including two pre-school establishments and 13 schools, Razmuviene said.

Based on the existing figures, she said, a total of 228 schoolchildren are self-isolating following their contact with an infected person. But, Razmuviene said, the figure will grow as the NPHC already has information on several new cases in the western district of Klaipeda and they will be includes in Wednesday's statistics.
