On October 24, fighters jets stationed as part of NATO's air policing mission identified an IL-20 flying in the international airspace from mainland Russia to Kaliningrad.

On October 25, NATO fighter jets identified an IL-20 and two SU-27 fighter jets.

On October 28, NATO jets escorted a Russian IL-20 flying in the international space from Kaliningrad to mainland Russia.

On the same day, NATO jets also identified two Russian SU-27 fighter jets flying in the international airspace from Kaliningrad. They then returned to Kaliningrad.

The majority of the Russian planes were flying with their onboard transponders on, without flight plans and some of them were in contact with the regional flight control center and other were not.

The NATO air policing mission in the Baltic states is conducted from Lithuania and Estonia.
