Minister: security of LNG terminal could be tightened further

After leaks occurred in the Nord Stream gas pipeline in the Baltic Sea, which might have been caused by explosions, Lithuania’s authorities assure that the security of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Klaipėda and other energy facilities is guaranteed but could be heightened.

“I will not go into details as regards the security of the critical infrastructure. I will just say that these facilities are always protected, security exercises are always conducted and the Armed Forces are invoked (&) to escort vessels [gas carriers] to the LNG terminal,” Minister of National Defence Arvydas Anušauskas told reporters Wednesday.
