MEP Uspaskikh denies he may run for Vilnius mayor

Following the withdrawal of MP Aidas Gedvilas from the Labour Party, its Chairman Andrius Mazuronis mentioned that MEP Viktor Uspaskikh, the party’s former leader, might run for Vilnius city mayor in the 2023 municipal election. However, Uspaskikh rejects the idea.

“I am not really considering [to run Vilnius mayor] and do not think someone may convince me otherwise,” the politician said. “I do not have the time. Being a mayoral candidate requires a lot of work, this is not that easy. I had planned many other things and simply do not have a chance to combine it all.”
