Mayors at 26 municipalities elected

Residents of 26 municipalities (out of 60) have elected their mayors in the first round of elections, updated preliminary results from the Central Electoral Commission (VRK) show.

Most of the newly elected 26 mayors were re-elected for another term.

The Social Democrats won 10 mayoral seats, the Liberals Movement took 4, the Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats secured 2 mayoral seats.

Five municipalities will have mayors from political committees.
