"It would probably be a dream to say let's go everyone who wants to and do that, but we do realize that it would probably be a very big group of people who would need to register, therefore, we are now in discussions with municipalities on how they would see this process," the vice minister told journalists on Friday.

"We are leaning towards, first of all, recommending for elder people to register, probably in five-year age brackets. Any specifics on how we are going to do that will be probably decided over the next week and we should provide those final answers next week," she added.

She could not say when mass rollout could start after vaccination of senior residents ends and another two priority groups – people with underlying issues and key workers – would follow.

"We are speaking about the start of mass vaccination in early May," Simonaityte said.
