This brings the country's coronavirus-related death toll to 3013.

A total of 1,679 people have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours.

Lithuania's 14-day coronavirus infection rate currently stands at 298 per 100,000 people.

Overall, 189,580 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Lithuania since the start of the pandemic.

Some 171,777 people are considered as having statistically recovered and 11,960 as statistically sick, compared to the declared figures of 120,287 and 62,586, respectively.

On Thursday, Statistics Lithuania began releasing data based on a new methodology that separates data on active coronavirus cases into declared and statistical ones.

"A declared patient is a person who has been diagnosed with the disease, but (...) their recovery has not been confirmed by their general practitioner," the office said in a press release. "A statistical patient is a person who has been diagnosed with the disease in the last 28 days."

The statistical incidence rate may more accurately reflect the real situation, it noted.

As of Thursday morning, 84,150 people in Lithuania have received their first coronavirus vaccine shots and 51,844 have been given the second jab, including 4,204 and 1,486 in the last 24 hours, respectively.

A total of 1,978,241 tests for COVID-19 have been carried out in the country so far, including 6,216 in the past 24 hours.
