The LFF is taking the steps after the country's parliament threatened to introduce the federation's direct management.

Representatives of UEFA and FIFA earlier warned that such a decision would lead to the suspension of the national team and clubs from international tournaments.

Mykolas Maujauskas and Laurynas Kasciunas, the Lithuanian lawmakers who drafted the temporary bill, stressed that the most important part of the new statutes was the clause of impeccable reputation, prohibiting convicted persons from taking part in the LFF management.

This planned requirement led to the resignation of Arunas Pukelis, the head of the Taurage County Football Federation, last week.

The LFF said earlier that the draft statutes also foresee that the LFF Executive Committee will be elected directly during the conference and will have 16 members, including representatives of the country's eight county football organizations, as well as representatives of the Lithuanian Women's Football Association, the Lithuanian Futsal and Beach Soccer Association and the Children's and Youth Football Association, as well as the A-League, the First League and an A-League club.

The new draft statutes also foresee that, in addition to the aforementioned members, the LFF Executive Committee will also include the LFF president and an "independent woman".

The LFF Conference would be made up of 32 members, including ten counties, the 1-8-placed clubs from the country's A-League, the 1-6-placed clubs from the First League and eight branch associations.
