Lithuania’s law enforcement has announced about carrying out a large-scale operation earlier this week, which targeted an international network of drug traffickers that was smuggling narcotic substances in the EU and beyond.

Deputy Police Commissioner General Arūnas Paulauskas said at a press conference on Friday, 25 November, that 13 individuals linked to the Džerkiniai gang originating in Kaunas were detained earlier this week, 7 of them in Lithuania and 6 in other EU countries. Extradition of Lithuanian citizens detained abroad is expected in the near future.
