"We had a serious operation in the night from Wednesday to Thursday," Elanas Jablonskas, the Kaunas County Police chief, said.
"Following a thorough investigation, officers uncovered a network of people involved in the falsification of documents."
As part of the operation, around ten searches were conducted and two individuals were detained by the police.
According to Jablonskas, the gang forged identity cards, driving licenses and passports selling for up to 1,000 euros on the black market.
"Not only Lithuanian documents, but also those of other countries such as Sweden and Denmark were sold," he said.
The examination of computers and USB devices seized during the searches is expected to provide further significant information for the investigation, according to the Kaunas police chief.
