The decrees signed by Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga allow the healthcare facilities to use the funds to purchase new equipment, such as artificial lung ventilators, functional beds, X-ray machines and other medical instruments and protective equipment, or reimburse them for earlier acquisitions.

A part of the funding went to institutions subordinate to the Health Ministry: the Health Emergency Situations Center, the Center of Excellence of Healthcare and Pharmacy Specialists, the National Public Health Laboratory, and the National Public Health Center.

The ministry and the institutions have allocated the money for the acquisition of coronavirus diagnostic and treatment equipment, and personal protective equipment, according to the press release.

"Over 3 million euros have already been paid to project implementers," it said.

Projects aimed at mitigating the effects of the coronavirus health crisis will last up to two years, the ministry said.
