"The likelihood that the quarantine will be lifted on May 11 is minimal," Veryga told a news conference.

"I think it will be extended," he added.

According to the minister, certain lockdown requirements will remain in place for some time.

"Let's understand that quarantine means much more than operating shops or going out into public space. It also includes certain isolation, self-isolation and movement requirements," Veryga said.

"I don't even know what should happen for all the lockdown requirements to be lifted on May 11," he added.

According to the minister, the restrictions will be partially eased if the rate of new coronavirus infections continues to decline.

The nationwide lockdown was imposed on March 16 and was last extended until May 11.
