"We are aware of the investigation and such an incident. (…) We have no possibility to get acquainted with this investigation as this is their national matter," she said, adding that the police have not received any complaint over this incident.

"There has been no complaint and the police are not involved," Montvile said.

Der Spiegel reported on Monday that the incident involving German troops under the influence of alcohol allegedly took place in April and several German troops were later sent back home.

Some 1,200 troops, mainly Germans, are serving within the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battlegroup Lithuania, based in Lithuania's Rukla.
