In addition, 621 cases of the coronavirus' UK variant, or the so-called Alpha variant, as well as 21 cases of the so-called B.1.620 variant that was first found in the Lithuanian town of Anyksciai, and one case of the Brazilian variant, or the so-called Gamma variant, have been recorded in Lithuania this week.

So far, 8,268 cases of the UK variant, 13 cases of the South African (Beta) strain, 211 cases of the Anyksciai variant, six cases of the Brazilian variant and one case of the Delta variant have been confirmed in a total of 12,220 Lithuanian samples genome-sequenced as part of the project coordinated by the NPHSL.
