Data published by Statistics Lithuania indicates that 1,337 people contracted the virus for the first time, 570 for the second time and 28 for the third time.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country has reached 1,193,955 since the outbreak of the pandemic. Currently, 21,679 people are ill.

The death toll due to COVID-19 stands at 9,226. One person from the age group of 70-79 years died on Monday. The individual was not vaccinated.

The average number of new daily cases in the last 7 days is 1,183. The incidence rate per 100,000 residents in the last 14 days is 572.5. The positive test rate in the last 7 days stands at 53%.

On 8 August, 156 residents were vaccinated against COVID-19: 49 with the first vaccine dose, 37 with the second dose and 48 with the third dose.

Thirty-three people were hospitalised due to COVID-19 on Monday and now 135 hospital beds allocated for coronavirus patients are occupied. Eight people being treated in intensive care units.

On Monday, 405 molecular PCR tests, 2,954 antigen tests and 184 antibody tests were carried out.
