Conservative party to expel Majauskas

The Supervisory Committee of the Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS-LKD) convened on Monday and decided that MP Mykolas Majauskas, chair of the Seimas Committee on Budget and Finance, should be expelled from the party. The decision comes after the politician disregarded the Government’s opinion and supported amendments to the value added tax (VAT) that had not been harmonised with the Cabinet of Ministers.

The Supervisory Committee concluded that Majauskas would be expelled from the party for violating its statutes and ignoring the duty to follow mandatory instructions issued by its ruling bodies, which is deemed a gross violation of the duties of a member of the Conservative party.
