Adomėnas: level of diplomatic representation of Russia will not change after expulsion of chargé d’affaires

On Monday, 3 October, Lithuania declared Russia’s Chargé D’affaires ad Interim Sergey Ryabokon persona non grata and decided to expel him. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mantas Adomėnas afterwards said that the level of diplomatic representation of the Russian Federation in Lithuania would not change.

“The decision was adopted taking into account Sergey Ryabokon’s public statements denigrating 1991 January events in Lithuania, cynically distorting historic events and because of his active interaction with individuals acting against Lithuania’s national interests,” Adomėnas told reporters on Monday.
