Abramavičius: draft laws on migrant policy in line with international legislation

Deputy Interior Minister Arnoldas Abramavičius says that the Cabinet’s law proposals are in line with the international law in his response to public criticism against the draft law aimed to legalise the policy of turning away migrants at national borders.

The Seimas opposition and human rights defenders argue that the laws on the legal status of aliens and on the protection of the state border are being amended only in a formal way, retaining provisions that are in conflict with international conventions. They are worried that the problematic aspects of the law will remain in place.
