The Office of the Seimas will wait for negative COVID-19 tests until January 10, the parliamentary press service said.

Access to the parliament building for MPs who fail to provide evidence of vaccination, recovery or a negative test will be restricted, unless they will provide necessary documents upon arrival to the Seimas on January 11.

Under the amendments to the Statute of the Seimas, adopted in late December, lawmakers will be able to enter the parliament as of January only upon submission of a document to prove they meet the criteria set in the government's resolution on an extreme situation or quarantine.

If lawmakers who do not have such documents fail to attend Seimas, committee and commission sittings, they will be deemed as having done so without a justified reason.

Also, lawmakers will be allowed to invite voters to closed-door meetings only if they have such a document.
