President Gitanas Nausėda hosted the Lithuanian U18 women’s basketball team at the Presidential Palace on Thursday, congratulating them on winning the European Championship.
The Lithuanian U18 women’s basketball team won golden medals by beating the Spanish team 78:75 in the finals at the European Championship in Greece that ran on 6-14 August.
Nausėda said father the meeting with the players that he was fascinated by their team play, which continued the traditions of Lithuanian basketball. The president also congratulated head coach Vilius Stanišauskas and the entire team staff.
Wishing the players success in the future, the head of state presented the Lithuanian flag to Justė Jocytė, the team captain and the most valuable player of the tournament.
