Under the scheme approved by the city's council, all war refugees of school age will be entitled to a free monthly pass for public transport in Panevezys.
The municipality will also subsidize 100 percent of the cost of a monthly travel pass for adults during their first month in Lithuania and 80 percent for those living in the country for more than a month.
According to the explanatory note to the council's resolution, 8,808 monthly travel passes were issued to war refugees living Panevezys between March and November this year, costing the municipality 224,800 euros in total.
