"There's no doubt that Ukrainians fleeing the war need not only material but also emotional support. And the best way to provide it is in a professional manner, in their mother tongue, which is why the emotional support line has been set up, with professional psychologists from Ukraine providing assistance," Eitvydas Bingelis, head of the IOM Vilnius Office, said.

In September, IOM Lithuania, in cooperation with IOM Ukraine and partners, organized training for 145 mental health professionals from Ukraine. They were trained to provide psychological support to people in war conditions, and experts from Georgia shared their experience.

An IOM survey carried out in Ukraine showed that 31 percent of internally displaced persons would like to receive emotional support.

Official statistics show some 68,300 refugees from Ukraine have arrived in Lithuania since the start of the war.
