Elijah ben Solomon Zalman, a world-famous Torah and Talmudic interpreter, also known as the Vilna Gaon, lived in the XVIII century.

The stamp's nominal value is 0.81 euros and it can be used to send letters abroad. The 1st day's envelope will also be issued with the new stamp, Lietuvos Pasas said.

To commemorate the rich 700-year history of Jews in Lithuania and the Vilna Gaon's 300th birth anniversary, 2020 has been designated the year of Vilna Gaon and the year of Jewish history in Lithuania.
