Wholesale price of electricity up by 13% in first week of March

On 28 February-5 March, compared with the previous week, the wholesale price of electricity in Lithuania increased by 13% to 118.37 EUR/MWh. In Latvia and Estonia, the price increased by 11% to 116.57 EUR/MWh and 116.42 EUR/MWh respectively.

According to independent electricity supplier Elektrum Lietuva, electricity prices also grew elsewhere in Europe: by 9% to 154.98 EUR/MWh in France and by 20% to 136.23 EUR/MWh in Germany.
In the Baltic region, electricity prices were affected by a 35% decrease of electricity flow from Sweden’s SE4 bidding area on the Nord Pool power exchange to the Baltic States. Whereas electricity flow from Finland increased just by 9% in a week and did not offset the difference.
