Vilnius secures one fifth of amount of low sulphur fuel oil for district heating

Tanker Greta K, sailing under the flag of Malta, has arrived to Klaipėda transporting one fifth of the amount of low sulphur fuel oil needed for Lithuania’s capital Vilnius in the upcoming heating season.

On 1 October, fuel oil was shipped to Klaipėda from the Port of Antwerp in Belgium. Fuel oil was purchased by Vilniaus šilumos tinklai (VŠT), a district heating company of Vilnius. It will be stored in facilities of KN (AB Klaipėdos nafta) before being transported to Vilnius and used for district heating, partially replacing expensive natural gas.
