Next year Lithuania will announce when electric power system will be synchronised with West

Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė says in 2023 Lithuania will announce the exact date when it will leave the BRELL (Belarus, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) ring and complete the synchronisation of its electric power system with the West, and this should happen sooner than 2025.

“Next year we will announce the concrete date when Lithuania will exit the BRELL ring and synchronise its electricity network with the West. Earlier it was planned that the process would be completed by 2025. However, we have been working intensively and I think we have successfully completed our homework, and I believe that synchronisation can be completed sooner,” Šimonytė said at the GreenTech Vilnius Forum dedicated to a green economy, energy and transport.
