Lithuania's state-run railway company Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai (Lithuanian Railways, LG) says such training in cooperation with Polish railway company Polskie Linie Kolejowe will take place for the first time.

"The goal of this training is to so see how Poles and Lithuanians are working specifically on the Rail Baltica project. A tank will be derailed and put on fire, and they will put it out and put back on the tracks. The Poles are coming in on the new track," Justina Molyte, a spokeswoman for LG, told BNS Lithuania.

In her words, the Polish representatives are coming in from Bialystok. All in all, the exercise will involve around 30 people.

Rail Baltica is expected to link Tallinn, Parnu, Riga, Panevezys, Kaunas, Vilnius and Warsaw by 2026. Its section from the Polish border to Mockava rail station was completed in June, 2015.
