A call for applications has been launched.

"The rapidly developing global space industry offers many opportunities for our businesses," Economy and Innovation Minister Ausrine Armonaite said in a press release on Friday. "We expect candidates who will help the country's space technology community to smoothly integrate into ESA programs and other international value chains."

The coordinator would be the contact point between the ESA and Lithuanian companies and institutions and would work closely with the Economy and Innovation Ministry and LT SpaceHub at the Innovation Agency.

The coordinator would provide practical assistance and share information on opportunities to participate in various project activities, and training or other activities aimed at promoting the growth of the Lithuanian space industry, according to the press release.

The ministry says more than 30 companies, each with sales revenue of 500,000 euros on average, are involved in space supply chains in Lithuania, and the number of space companies in the country is expected to grow more than two and a half times within five years.

Lithuania has ambitions for its space sector to generate about one percent of the country's GDP in five years.
