"Two businesses involved in the wholesale of dental implants and related products are under investigation for alleged provision of wrong revenue data. Two people are under investigation regarding alleged illicit enrichment as part of one of the investigations. Based on the existing evidence, one of the companies might have failed to pay over 370,000 euros in taxes," the FCIS said in a statement.

Some 50 searches have been carried out in recent weeks as part of the investigations led by Klaipeda Regional Prosecutor's Office. Investigators and experts are now analyzing the evidence to determine the damage done to the state.

The FCIS says it gas evidence to suggest there's a network of sellers and distributors of dental goods, mostly implants, who allegedly avoid taxes. Members of this network are suspected of importing dental implants and related products from the EU and third countries under tax evasion schemes.

In Lithuania, persons who provide wrong revenue information to avoid taxes when the tax value exceeds 30,000 euros, face up to eight years in prison. And they also face up to six years in prison for high-value illicit assets.
