Finance Minister Gintarė Skaistė says that the amount of EUR 714 million earmarked for reimbursing electricity and gas costs for households for 2023 will certainly be sufficient. A letter sent by the National Energy Regulatory Council (VERT) is based on information that should not be considered relevant, the minister pointed out.

“The VERT letter also talks about the 2022 commitments which are definitely higher. This is because at the beginning of the year, when an adjustment to the budget was under preparation before it was presented in April, market price trends at that time looked completely different, the forecasts were significantly more pessimistic. As a result, the commitments for 2022 are certainly bigger,” Skaistė told a briefing in the Finance Ministry on Monday.
