In May 2022, the seasonally adjusted industrial production rose by 0.8% in the euro area and by 0.6% in the EU, compared with April 2022, according to estimates from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.

In May 2022 compared with May 2021, industrial production increased by 1.6% in the euro area and by 2.7% in the EU.

In the euro area in May 2022, compared with April 2022, production of non-durable consumer goods rose by 2.7%, capital goods by 2.5% and durable consumer goods by 1.4%, while production of intermediate goods remained unchanged and production of energy fell by 3.3%.

In the EU, production of capital goods rose by 2.5%, non-durable consumer goods by 2.1%, durable consumer goods by 1.3% and intermediate goods by 0.2%, while production of energy fell by 3.5%.
Among Member States for which data are available, the highest monthly increases were registered in Ireland (+13.9%), Greece (+2.6%) and Czechia (+2.4%). The largest decreases were observed in Lithuania (-7.6%), the Netherlands (-3.3%) and Luxembourg (-2.9%).

In the euro area in May 2022, compared with May 2021, production of non-durable consumer goods rose by 6.8%, durable consumer goods by 6.3% and capital goods by 0.9%, while production of intermediate goods fell by 0.2% and energy by 1.5%.

In the EU, production of non-durable consumer goods rose by 8.7%, durable consumer goods by 5.4%, capital goods by 1.8%, energy by 0.7% and intermediate goods by 0.6%.

Among Member States for which data are available, the highest annual increases were registered in Bulgaria (+20.2%), Denmark (+17.2%) and Poland (+12.5%). The largest decreases were observed in Malta (-4.8%), Luxembourg (-2.1%) and Germany (-1.4%).

In Lithuania, in May 2022, compared with May 2021, industrial production increased by 4.3%.
