Court tells former heads of transport association to compensate EUR 250,000 in damages

The Court of Appeal of Lithuania has ruled that former secretary general of the Lithuanian National Road Carriers Association (Linava) Valdas Gilys and its former chief financial officer Adolfas Darginavičius have to compensate EUR 250,000 in damages to the association.

The court judged that under former leadership tax laws were systematically violated at Linava and significant financial damage was caused to the association. The court ordered that Gilys had to compensate EUR 226,000 in damages and pay 5% in interest of this amount, as well as EUR 4,000 in litigation costs. Whereas Darginavičius has to compensate EUR 13,000 in damages and pay 5% interest of this amount, as well as EUR 1,300 in litigation costs.
