Over the quarter, 2,256 new residential buildings with 3,899 dwellings were completed, of which 63.5% – were in individual houses. The useful floor area of the dwellings completed amounted to 393.2 thousand m² and, compared to Q2 2021, increased by 44%. The average useful floor area of a dwelling in individual houses amounted to 125.2 m², in blocks of flats – 58.5 m².

In Q2 2022, 39.8% of new dwellings completed were in Vilnius City Municipality, 10.3% – in Kaunas District Municipality, 9.5% – in Vilnius District Municipality.

In Q2 2022, 237 new non-residential buildings were completed. The total floor area of those buildings amounted to 474.6 thousand m² and, compared to Q2 2021, increased by 3 times. In terms of the total floor area, industrial buildings and warehouses (189.8 thousand m²), as well as new agricultural buildings (102.5 thousand m²) completed accounted for the largest share.

In terms of the total floor area, 25.6% of new non-residential buildings completed were in Vilnius City Municipality, 10.5% – Klaipėda District Municipality, 10.2% – Kaunas District Municipality.

In Q2 2022, the start of construction of 2,274 residential and non-residential buildings was recorded, i.e. by 9.5% less than in the respective quarter of 2021.

Over the quarter, construction of 2,115 new residential buildings with 4.379 dwellings was started, 56% of them – in individual houses. The useful floor area of the new dwellings whose construction was started amounted to 445.9 thousand m² and, compared to Q2 2021, decreased by 1%. 6 new dormitories for the accommodation of persons belonging to various social groups with a useful floor area of 3.4 thousand m² was started.

In Q2 2022, 37.2% of new dwellings completed were in Vilnius City Municipality, 11.9% – in Kaunas District Municipality, 11.8% – in Vilnius District Municipality.

In Q2 2022, the construction of 153 new non-residential buildings was started. The total floor area of those buildings amounted to 327.1 thousand m² and, compared to Q2 2021, decreased by 25%. In terms of the total floor area, new industrial buildings and warehouses (92.4 thousand m²) and new trade, hotel and catering buildings (90.7 thousand m²) whose construction was started accounted for the largest share.

In terms of the total floor area, 33.5% of all new non-residential buildings whose construction was started were in Vilnius City Municipality, 11.7% – Šiauliai City Municipality, 8.5% – Kaunas City Municipality.

In Q2 2022, 2,168 building permits were issued for the construction of new buildings, which is by 20.3% less than in Q2 2021.

1,981 building permits were issued for the construction of new residential buildings, which is 21.7% less than a year ago. The construction of individual houses predominates in the country: it accounted for 98.7% of all permits issued. Building permits were issued for the construction of 2,207 new individual houses, their useful floor area will decrease by 24.6%, and 40 new blocks of flats, their useful floor area will increase by 2.1 times, compared to Q2 2021. Building permits were issued also for the construction of 3 dormitories for persons of various social groups, their useful floor area will total 1.6 thousand m².

In Q2 2022,187 building permits were issued for the construction of new non-residential buildings, which is 1.6% less than in the respective quarter of 2021. The planned total floor area of the non-residential buildings whose construction was authorised is by 12% less than a year ago. In terms of the total floor area, the largest share of building permits issued were those for the construction of industrial buildings and warehouses (40.7%) and trade, hotel and catering buildings (23.9%).
