Lietuvos Energija said on Friday the initial assessment of the applications had been already completed.

The group said a total of more than ten companies had taken interest in its invitation for partnership.

"With capacity auctions for the development of projects in the Baltic Sea likely to begin in 2021-2022, we want to make proper preparations and acquire experience by developing offshore wind parks together with our selected partner," Dominykas Tuckus, director of infrastructure and development at Lietuvos Energija, said in a press release.

The group plans to gain experience through participation in a new offshore wind farm development project as a minor partner and, at a later stage, bid in auctions for specific projects in the Baltic Sea.

In February, Lietuvos Energija said it expected to choose a strategic partner by the end of 2019.

The company aims to increase the group's green energy generation capacity, mostly wind power, to 3 gigawatts by 2030.
