New Seimas elections due as MP Nekrošius wins Raseiniai mayor seat

The second round of the local elections held on Sunday saw five members of parliament running for mayors, but only Arvydas Nekrošius of the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LVŽS) succeeded.

According to the Central Electoral Commission (VRK), Nekrošius secured 52.75% of the vote in the Raseiniai polling districts. The incumbent mayor, Andrius Bautronis of the Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS-LKD), ranked second with 46.32% in the runoff voting.
